I.D.E.A

The people of Sierra Leone, West Africa, spent ten years
engaged in a civil war. That war disrupted the lives of 4.5
million people. Though the war was horrendous for everyone
involved, it was especially hard on people with epilepsy and
developmental disabilities, who already struggled to survive
with few skills and little support, and against unfounded and
erroneous fears.

Why Was I.D.E.A Founded?
I.D.E.A was founded to help the citizens of Sierra Leone who have epilepsy and other
disabilities, and who spend each day in a difficult and fragile environment.

What Are I.D.E.A's Goals?
I.D.E.A.’s goals are to provide the following services:
• Treatment • Training
• Counseling • Advocacy
• Protection
• Social acceptance
• Civic and health education
• Economic empowerment
